I'd like to see someone get a local driving job with no experience.

I applied to literally dozens and dozens of local companies. They would call me, even interview me, and find out I just had a CDL no experience, and show me the door. Others would ignore me totally. Acme trucking said I didn't have enough experience to drive a 40foot gooseneck on a dually, but OTR companies hire to me to pull a 53' box trailer the next day. WTF.

After 2 and a half years of trying and failing, I applied to the first OTR company and within days I had a job. In fact, within 45 minutes of each other I had two job offers.

    Toomanybikes Thanks this.

A few drivers posted they were hired by Airgas right out of cdl school. Again, that's on a case by case basis. The good money for local work will be in foodservice.

I appreciate all the assistance so far. Going to look over what's been provided and see what I can find. Looks like I may have an easier time if I get the X endorsement. Bit pricey, but it'll be worth it, local or not.
Another option I may have to go with is just picking something and moving to a location closer to the hospital as soon as possible. Uber from where I am isn't viable since they aren't available this far from the city.

Though it may not be a perfect solution since I'd still be working during the day regardless of where I am. It helps to be closer rather than 500+ miles away. I can either request that day off and know I'll have it or work a partial day or something along those lines.

I agree it is not easy. In some locations it is impossible. Their just is no driver shortage like we are lead to believe.

Yet, I have seen it happen over and over. It helps if you know someone.
