One thing this thread proves with out a doubt, The Quality of Drivers are going down hill. I understand fam emergency among other things that can go totally wrong on the road. But I also have to admit I would work with the guy to get him back his equipment. Just as I would expect the same done for me if it was my truck, something can always be worked out.
I guess I was just raised a little different integrity means alot to me and the lack of it in this thread is amazing to me. I understand that it can sometimes be unavoidable, but this just seems wrong to me.

and its very sad and also makes me upset because it makes hard on the guys like me who dont do drugs or even drink for others like owner operators treat us with respect and loyalty.
stupid thing about my situation, before i started working for this guy, he wanted me to leave this guys truck i was working for in indiana. and i told him i wasnt going to get abandonment of truck on my record and he straifght up told me that the guy couldnt do that to me , he said he had a driver leave his truck at the police station like 1500 miles from his yard and that he couldn't do anything about it. and that high percentage of owner operators cant put abandonment of truck on driver record. but yea that should of been red flag for me not to work for him since he wanted me to abandon that guys truck. not to mention he takes out a hundred dollars a week for a "escrow account" and i ask him why and he says it for equiment damage. and i said but i'm not buying the truck and he said its actually for in case you leave my truck stranded , than he has that money to use to go get truck. smhFlipflops Thanks this. -
Well I wouldn't drive for that guy in the first place. Second thing is I'd still return the equipment and exoect to be paid for my work. How old are you if you don't mind me asking?

i agree with you 100%. but the whole time im in the hospital with my family, he is steadily texting and calling me asking me when i m going to go back to work. .

I'm not saying he is in the right either. What I am saying is I would not leave another man's equipment stranded thousands of miles away. I would figure out how to get it back to him, walk in a mile in a O/O's shoes and you would understand my point of view.
Its not his actions I cant sleep with, it would be my own as I hold my self to a higher level then that.dclerici1 Thanks this. -
He sure did have a lot of guts asking for his job back.sad there's a lot like him on our roads right now.

Did you forget what you posted about the last O/O you worked for less then a month ago?

This is why it's always nice to have money saved in case you do need to get home and don't abandone equipment.I've had my share of bad bosses one I sued for wrongful termination.yes I could have headed home and let the boss worry about coming and get his trk and trailer but instead I let him fire me at the receiver and dumped me 12 miles away.I had money and rented a car to come home.
NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
