There is a 13' 7" tressel in Dangerfield, TX on Hwy 49, the main hwy going through there. First time I ever went through there, I was just like you, I was down to about 5 mph with 4 ways on creeping along until I cleared it. Now I know but I always slow down to about 30 mph. I still cant get past that fear. If that trailer bounces.... LOL

P.A.M and bridges just don t mix. A few weeks ago, one ran off in the Wabash River in Indiana, now one struck a low bridge

We have one, local to my area of operation. That was recently re-signed to 13'0", after the county repaved the road under and after it, but NOT on the town side of the bridge.
Had a delivery on the other side of it last week. I slowed down to a crawl, to keep the trailer from bouncing, and cleared it with a few inches to spare.
Sometimes you have to check it out, BEFORE you commit.

There's a bridge by my dad's that gets hit all the time. The signage says 13'6" but it dose not take into account that the road slopes down on one side, and up on the other. So you clear going under, and about halfway through your higher at both wheels and the top of the trailer hits the bridge.

The back of his trailer says, "Make the right move." So much for that.

Two quotes from article got me laughing:

"A PAM Transport tractor trailer is stuck under a railroad bridge after failing to acknowledge clearance signs."

I think he acknowledged those signs. Maybe AFTER he hit the bridge...

"Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area."

    Yah think?

I recall a bridge in Winchester WVa I think. Anyway its core downtown. Not a poblem for me and my daycab mack with a 48 frehauf bulkhead trailer flat.

Here comes MS Carriers behind me asking about that bridge. 13.5 something if that.

Imagine a very deep \_/ with the bridge over the center. You come down at a angle, flatten out with your tractor which essentially raises the entire trailer roof so to speak before it's tandems get there, You are already climbing backup with your tractor while the trailer tandems are still coming down.

I asked him you able to drop your suspension? Yessuh, all of it.

    He made it.

I spent about a month pondering how in hell do you drop a trailer suspension. The only way to do that is to undock the trailer in a dock somewhere and go away with the bobtail.

I wonder if that sly sneaking smartypants dropped his air on the tractor, stopped a second at the bridge and pulled his pig tail and his glad hands to force drag the whole thing through. I do remember it was pretty wet down there under there.

That's the only possibly way he could have made it. But I don't think he will be going that ever again.
