in Chicago on 95th street westbound west of Dorchester there are two signs on street lights approaching the bridge. Both read 14' -(something) The inches on the first one is covered by branches and I am relying on my old memory here...
But when you get to the bridge, the sign on the bridge is 13'-8". Or was it 13-6?
Anyway, my point is don't just look at the first sign. Keep watching.
Also, if the pavement is new go super slow as well. They may have taken away a few inches.
The bridge over stoney island just south of 95th was labeled 13-6. Now there are new signs of 13'-4" even though there is no new pavement. There is less clearance in the middle. Before it was relabled I made it under with full and empty trailers.

Chicago is notorious for paving a road and not changing the sign, mismarking or just not posting one.
hit one about 10 yrs ago and it was marked 14', actual as told by the police, was 13'.
it had been paved 2 months earlier and sign had not been changed yet.
was also yelled at because "everybody knew the truck route had been changed to 2 streets over".
uh, I ain't from there so how would I know.??!!! -
Fortunately they city and state are broke so you dont have to worry about new asphalt anymore. -
Not so true about the re-paving...
