I must not be getting through. The people that told me this are the same guys that set up at mats. It is their job to promote the proper product. They specifically said that I have a significant chance to due more harm than good with synthetic. I'll take their word.

ok. suit yourself. Plenty of people here running synthetic in old motors. I'm currently not but not because I think it would harm my motor but I question it's cost effectiveness. Nothing more. I may run a blend this fall.

Hi Steeleandso, I agree, I had good luck with Lucas fuel additive, but used it as more of a cleaner, and I definitely got better mileage on a long trip, but due to it's cost, I don't think it pays to use it every time, same with their oil stabilizer. I had a Dodge mini van that loved oil, and the stabilizer definitely slowed consumption. Had a steering box leaking on my Western Star, and Lucas power steering sealer really slowed down the leak considerable.

Two drops of brake fluid will swell the seals of what you put it in and slow or stop leaks.

I was on my phone last night when I posted, so I didn't crop the quote.

Personally I use Rotello 15w40. It has been providing me years of maintenance free service. Every ten thousand miles my trucks get changed. I do use lucas in engine assembly only, its much like STP in assembly products. I must admit though I have a John Deere Lawn Tractor that was getting some age on it I mow about 5 acres weekly with it and it was using a quart of oil each mowing I added lucas to my next oil change and have yet to add another drop. Each season just do a service and mow. Before you go thinking it will be a wonder additive now to your engine there is a lot of difference in oil pressures in a Kawasaki engine and a Caterpillar!

I was involved with an owner that had 6 trucks hauling 144,000 lbs over two mountains in BC. he was talked into trying a synthetic oil that is continually promoted on every site, it was when the N14 first came into use and we were in those engines all the time because of injector problems, very soon the engines were full of a jelly like slime, there was absolutly no change in fuel economy, and the main bearings showed more wear than exactly the same trucks using dyno oil. The test was done with the oil company running it completely. All oil samples and oil filter changes and oil changes were there call.
As far as an aditive adding HP like I said on an electronic engine it is easy to prove. and in 40 some years of working on engines I have never seen a repair in a bottle.
I never once had a customer come in and say he added anything to the engine when it came to warrenty. I have repaired thousands of engines and have seen most every aditive available, I have seen the cow magnets on fuel lines, as far as a cleaner Bio is the very best and as far as a lubricant BIO is best.
If you are using 15/40 in a lawn tractor, it does not work the proper oil is a straight weight 30, 15/40 will vaporise in a air cooled lawn tractor engine.
I have been there and done that.
I use luber finer #2 as an engine assembly lube.
    Just a thought!
