One of the key things drilled into me when I was getting my CDL was "don't bring the 9pc set". Course It's hard to pack the things required and keep under size. I've got a backpack I used to use for my laptop that I plan to use as my main travel and shower bag. An 80x34 Sleeping bag rated for 30 degrees (probably not relevant) and for the bulk of my stuff I wasn't sure if a 24-26in duffle W/wheels would be enough or if I should look for a reasonable 30in.

Assume you are going to be sleeping with EVERYTHING you bring into the trainer's truck. It's the trainer's truck, it's not half his and half yours. Bring soft-sided luggage because you might be sleeping with it. It's 100% up to the trainer.

I would bring a week's worth of clothes, work shoes, flip-flops, toiletries & bag, jacket, phone & charger, sunglasses, work gloves. Not much else.

I got a 48" canvas duffel bag and found it to be a little too big. Something 36to40" would be perfect imo. Skip the wheeled duffel bags those are for girls :) Another small duffel for your bathroom stuff and sleeping bag is perfect...don't forget a pillow.

If you have a twin size bed you can experiment on how much space you are willing to give up for your stuff.
Because that is about how much room you will have for you and your stuff.

And that is how I make my daughter pack when she gets on the truck with me during summer.

The only reason I was looking at wheeled options was I hurt my elbow a while back and wanted to avoid causing permanent damage. Thanks I'll take everything into consideration and yea I don't plan to buy in for the time being. If I had a reliable partner I might but not just for me.

What I was telling you was for during your training period. After that you can have as much as will fit in the truck - if you are a solo driver.

And you should not be needing wheels normally, in any case.
All your stuff will stay in the truck. A shower bag is light.
You may want wheels for home time if you plan to take a lot out of the truck.

Don't be too quick to be in a team operation.
It might mean a few more miles, but what you gain in miles is opposed by sharing a very small space with someone else.

You can minimize your pack to three shirts to pants...coat and sweater. Change of underwear. One pillow and sleeping bag. Small bag for essentials.

Forget the extras during training like laptops and warm fuzzy stuff....anything you must have can be purchased out of a truck stop.

If the truck has 2 beds you have that whole bed to store stuff on. Unless you need your legs and feet to go side to side all night there's a ton of room. Those beds are pretty wide. You can line the side with lots of stuff and at the end of the bed there should also be a ton of room.

Unless the trainer is a pack rat like mine was years and years a go
    .
He had more junk than I have ever seen in a condo sleeper.

Travel light in case you have to jump off the truck and ride a bus home.
