I really love my Volvo 780 but I can tell that what ever is underneath the floor covering is lumpy in many places. It’s not quite bad enough to turn my ankle but it is a bit uneven. It’s like there are cables underneath the carpet and there’s some spots where I can tell bolt heads are sticking up from the metal that makes up the floor. Have any of you ever had the rubber mat and carpet removed to see what is underneath there? Just looking at it I think I would have to remove the cabinets in order to remove the floor coverings.

What year? Mine is smooth (2015). Old 780 company truck I drove for awhile was smooth (02 or 03 I think).

2018. I have driven freightliners and a T680 before and never felt like there was weird stuff underneath the floor coverings.

The floor has rubber mats in the front and in the rear by the cabinets there is carpet. I don’t know if those are wires underneath or not. My wife thinks the floor has extra structural rigidity molded into it and they did not put enough padding down before putting the coverings on. Sometimes we like to dance with each other if an especially good song comes on the radio and this makes it for harder footing.

Just cut you a sheet of plywood and lay down over it or put some saw dust over it bout a couple inches thicks.

The lower cabinet doors and the fridge door go all the way down to the floor so plywood is not an option. I would think the sawdust will blow around too much when I open the window. I’m stuck with this problem and I know it I’m just wondering what is causing it.

Did you buy, or drive the trk since new? If not..previous driver, or owner may have stuffed $100 bills under there. Better dig them out!
