Kinda off topic but deals with the general need to do a walk around before departing the fuel stop. I see many drivers with cascadias leave their def door open while driving down the road. Make sure while checking your fuel caps to also close this. I cant believe how people could be in such a hurry to forget a basic things of closing all the openings after fueling . I believe the door protects the def cap from damage and from road debris from hitting the cap.

Saw a friend today, saw his late model Mack on a lowboy, obviously in trouble. Said he was not thinking when he fueled several days ago, dumped a can of DEF in fuel tank, did not realize his mistake until motor seized up . Not sure how long that took, but fried his engine, said he was just in too big a hurry, and made the mistake.

I resemble that remark and you can bite my heind quarters sir.

I can't say I ever forgot a fuel cap, since I triple check everything (ocd) but I have made other mistakes. Which is why I know how to fix everything.

    Lol

If I may play Devil’s Advocate for a bit, I think this attitude being described here that puts everyone off stems from insecurity. In the minds of the individuals in question, to admit a mistake is to admit weakness.

If there’s one thing in this world that really chaps my hide, it’s elitist supertruckers like you. Looking down on us regular folks like some half naked Greek god with nothing else better to do than to criticize our humanity. I shall now throw peanut shells at your direction.

It’s like running out of fuel, you’re allowed one free pass, after that there’s no excuse. I’ve left a cap off before. Now I always double check. At least once I’ve caught the same mistake. Running out of fuel is another story, lost track of how many times, Lol. Current Truck had issue with gauge when I first got it. Ran out at least 5 or 6 times, finally stopped everything and fixed it!! Yeah I know how it sounds, but just don’t care, it’s the truth.

Half the stuff didnt work in my time with the older trucks. You used a clean stick in that fuel tank. You can almost estimate how far you are going today. Or not.

If anyone today was given a tractor in which only the pedals and steering worked with everything else broken out or busted, missing, inop etc. ugh.

I gotta laugh when I hear anyone talking about how ELDs have caused us to be perpetually in a hurry, particularly while fueling. Apparently the truckers in front of me at the pumps didn’t get the memo!
