If you lurk here long enough you'll see the phrase "major freight lanes" used and start to wonder just where these are. Well I found a good URL to share with you guys from the DOT:

    http://ops.fhwa.dot.gov/freight/freight_analysis/freight_story/major.htm

Can anyone add anything else to this info? Are there particularly good areas to be in for freight? What about ones you should avoid?

Major freight lanes are a bit of a mystery sometimes. Produce comes mostly out of Ca/Az, but potatoes come out of Id and other states too, like In. and others. I-5 on the west coast, I-10, 20, 40, and 80 are major as are the N/S interstates from the midwest to the east coast. Laredo, Tx is a major import/export crossing. I use to do a lot of McDonalds (Golden State dist) in Ca. They would get eggs from Mn, OJ from Fl, frozen spuds from Id and sweets from Ga. Yet, Ca is a citrus producing state and egg ranches abound all over Ca. Another time, I hauled a lot of M&M Mars between their warehouses/manufacturing places in Waco, Jersey, Chicago and Tn. The same candy going back and forth. :biggrin_25518:
