ok what can i do to make my 2ws 2000 yr cat come alive. i haul heavy 120000 to 132000 lb, i run pitts box now. i have a 5 row radiator in it but it still gets hot on a hard pull. would a bigger turbo and manifold cool it off. or would a stage 1 pakage from pdi be the way to go? im open for suggestions.

I have the same trouble with water temp in the the summer. When pit power on three the pdi stage 1 turbo does a great job egt 900-950. I have not went over setting 3, as far as water temp goes I am going to change temp stat to 180 degress and see what that does. I also ran a 5 row and now a 6 does same thing ( 900L)

If your heat rejection is bigger than your cooling system can handle you need to upsize your cooling system. The thermostat won't make a difference. All the way open is all the way open, if you're overheating, you will still overheat with a 180, you will just have crappy heat and fuel economy in the winter.

A PDI program is much better than a PP box. The PP box ####### injection timing and causes heat. You can get the same power level with a PDI program and not build as much heat.

How much power do you want? The PDI stage 1 package isn't quite as much power as the box on max setting. The best combination of parts in my opinion is a stage 1 ECM with a cam and a extrude honed manifold with a turbo to match. This will give you the best power and fuel mileage.

You can also use a CAT file in the ECM to build power. I can do this for you if you're interested. With a CAT file and the correct numbers in the ECM you will be 700Hp+ at the flywheel with a stock engine.

I'm also a PDI dealer if you're interested in any of their products.

Do you know how many degrees PDI advances timing at Stage 1? Just curious.

No, they will not give anybody this spec. I can tell you it's enough to make the engine rattle similar to the B's at idle. I know the change CAT made to comply with the LOW NOX requirements was to ###### timing 4.5* I wouldn't be surprised if they aren't adding another 3-4* above this. Also all of the PDI programs have the same timing changes regardless of the power increase.
