My truck is idling up when I'm parked. I replaced the dpf. filter and the other filter is attached to. When I did that I found there where holes drilled in the filters. But what else could make the engine idle up when parked. Does anybody have any ideas. I'm afraid to keep truck on at night.

Maybe they do it to keep oil pressure up. You never supposed to idle a diesel. I have a pre emission 379 pete with cat and ALWAYS idle the motor up to 1k rpm. Even if I park to run into get a cup of coffee for one minute.

I'm concerned the engine will blow when I'm sleeping. Apms. Hi up to 10 to 15 it's worse especially when it's cold. I think it has something to do with the environmental system on truck. Something to do with a Regine. But i got two out of the three filters truck has

They can be programmed to increase in speed automatically to keep the engine warm. If it goes to idle as soon as you hit the brake or clutch, this is likely what is happening. If you feel the engine is already at temp, then you might have a temp sensor faulty telling the ecm the engine is cold when in fact it is not. If the engine doesn't respond and you have to actually turn it off to stop it, then something is seriously wrong and you need to get it checked out.

I have to tap on the fuel in order for the idle to go back down. Then in a few minutes it goes back up. Along with the oil pressure

What is the outside temperature when this happens. My dodge Cummins does this when it’s cold out. Idle will bump up. I hit the fuel or touch brake pedal will go back down. Let it sit for a minute or 2 it will do same thing.
How long have you had truck? Did it not do this last year with these temps?

I think it has something to do with the Regine. And the environmental crap on it.
