I hate to burst some bubbles but there is NO regulation that states you must be employed. ONLY that you account for the time. The carriers are free to be tighter than the regs. I said this in another thread a while back. You can take a 2-year vacation in the south of France chasing women and STILL be legally allowed to drive. You just have to account for the time.

Exactly. And one thing that does disqualify is having committed federal crimes in ones recent history. Not paying taxes on earnings counts as one, and that mega discovered the crime and rightfully so didn’t hire the OP.

Yes nredfor88 That Is Correct...I Agreed To Take Care Of My Family Member With Demetria From 2011 Till His Passing in 2019 24/7 for like $2.80 a hour ....So No I Didn't Claim It....Because It's Not Even Legal For Someone To Pay Such Low Wages Per A Attorney I Spoke With Since Than I Have Been Mowing Lawns Painting Etc All Cash To Make Ends Meet... Plus I Had Money Saved From My Very Successful Real Estate Business Prior To Taking Care Of My Family Member ...However Now Its time to go make some real money again.for the next 8 years before i retire..... So Are You Saying these Megas will hire if i just put unemployed ? Because This Mega Said They needed 10 years history....very confusing .thanks

Yes, they will hire you. Just say your last job was the last one that gave you the w2. Say you were unemployed, while caring for family. Don’t mention money during that time. Good luck.

My comment had nothing to do with taxes. This subject came up before. When a carrier checks on job history they are not checking on your tax status while there. They want 3 basic things. Dates worked, the reason for leaving, and rehire status. DO NOT add stuff that is not there.

    T.Rucker and bryan21384 Thank this.

Wrong. It is there and the mega saw it. I was agreeing with you that it’s okay to state being unemployed. It’s not okay to admit working when there is no proof of it.

No, I don't think you are fully agreeing because I don't fully think you understand my points. I am speaking in general terms NOT just about the OP. Regardless of if you are being paid under the table or not YOU ARE STILL EMPLOYED. I know of NO regulation that states you must be in full compliance with the IRS for that job to count. You work under the table your problems are with the IRS if caught, NOT complying with the FMCSA.

    Simple Man1963 Thanks this.

Now that you post this, you're right. There is a spot on those apps where you have to explain those gaps in employment. Your post triggered that thought

Got to make it simple for them. Make it sound good for You. Many Companies frown on gaps in job history. It’s a Red Flag for Laziness, addictions, etc. Just fill in the blanks, with a good reason. They don’t really care. Just need the blanks filled in. Keep it simple. Don’t be a handful for them to deal with. Just the basics facts. You’re making their Job too hard. They don’t want to work any harder than they have to. Once hired, deal with Dispatch the same. Short and Sweet, do your Job, let your performance do the talking. They don’t care about you’re personality, or any details about your Life. All they care about is getting the job done. Keep it simple. It’s Truckdriving, not an Interview for Ambassador to the UN.
