    Hello everyone.

I hope this doesn't seem like a crazy or idiotic question but why aren't more people running their flatbeds in Memphis??

As a broker I have a pretty good idea of rates nationwide. Vans and reefers and flats.

But the market is Memphis is RIDICULOUS year round.

3 bucks a mile outbound yearound almost.

WHY are there barely any trucks in the area??? I see a lot of people with flatbeds complain.

Outbound Memphis to Indiana (fremont,Elkhart) pays 2.85 and outbound Indiana pays same but yet shippers and brokers struggle with freight out of Memphis.

    Thoughts please

That isn't a ridiculous rate. That's an average load in many markets.

    Average?

Really. The current market is well below 2 bucks everywhere unless you can show a rate con showing otherwise.

We pay a lot of money for DAT which is used by most big brokers and carriers. The rates are pretty accurate.

My rate right now starts at $3.21 and goes up from there depending on the width. No tarping either. Hell, it is not even my trailers, all I supply is the truck and my right foot.

I check TTR daily and see a lot of people struggle but yet you get 3.21 a mile?

If you made 3.21 a mile and ran 2000 miles a week 50 weeks let's say you take two weeks off after expenses (1.60 a mile operating costs) you would be NETTING 160k a year lol. Cmon man

Believe it or not, I don't care. This is on 780 miles. Been crossing Wyoming all winter and have another 8-9 months to go.
