I have 40000 lb Meritor rears in my truck I think they are RT 140?
I am looking for what to torque the axle flange nuts.
They take a 15/16 socket so they should be a 5/8 fine threaded nut.
Meritor axle flange nut torque.

1/2 in air impact will usually get you right in the ballpark.Lite bug, BoxCarKidd, Dino soar and 1 other person Thank this. -
I may not have had the right Spec for them the first time.
On one wheel the nuts actually came loose and luckily I didn't lose much oil until I caught it.
Maybe I should put regular self-locking nuts on them?
Mine are the type that has a nut with the washer behind it but I don't have the cones. -
If they loosened I most certainly would use new locknuts. Though reuse is typical with no issues. Tighten in a star pattern just like a wheel. Hitting each nut atleast twice to be sure its torqued evenly.
spsauerland and Dino soar Thank this. -
On the Meritor without locknuts, we always put blue threadlocker on the stud in the Army.
Dino soar Thanks this. -
What is on there right now they are not lock nuts they're just nuts with washers.
I have a place near me that I can get the actual cone lock nuts I don't know if they have that exact thread in a cone or if they have it in a flange nut.
Would either be okay and do I still use the washer?
I did clean the nuts and the studs I could put threadlocker on them.
