The only other thing I can think of is maybe Dawn is intercepting them and taking care of them. She does that alot with things that irritate me. She's a good woman.

By order of my safety dep't, I am log exempt until I exceed 12 hours or 1XX (or however many it is) miles away.

If you suddenly find yourself in a non-exempt situation, and you're needing a driver's daily log to satisfy your current non-exempt status, would you not need the previous seven days, as well?

Also, once you have began a driver's daily log, when can you stop. I've often been told that once you go "OTR", you remain in log book la-la-land for the next seven days.

I managed a "regional" driver pool that for the most part were operating within 100 nautical miles of the terminal, and remained intrastate 95% of the time. However, because the need to go outside of the circle and/or cross a state line could present itself at a moments notice, the drivers were required, by company policy, to maintain their driver's daily logs.

Crossing a state line does not change the status of a radius driver. We have drivers who are exempt within a 100 mile radius while they travel from St. Joseph, MI, across Indiana and Illinois, to West Allis, Wisconsin.

In my opinion, if you suddenly find yourself in a non-exempt status such as over 12 hours, all you need from the previous seven days is the start time, stop time and total hours. When I used the one-week-on-a-page exemption log, I occasionally had to staple a one-day graph log to it at the end of the week.

About moving the truck from a truck stop to a consignee, etc., all stops in one commercial zone are logged as one stop.

its been a looooong time since i used paper logs , me and my son are thinking of teaming up and hes company has paper logs . In the two areas marked ---- total miles driving today --- total miles today . whats the difference of the two ? AND ? in shipping documents does both lines have to be filled out ? and last,,,,, FROM + TO is that were they load started and is going to ? or is it were you start each day and finish that day , Thanks drivers !!!!

"Total miles driving today" are the miles that you have driven, "total miles today" are the total miles the truck has travelled. The latter includes miles driven by a co-driver. Note that only "total miles driving today" are required by FMCSA.

Shipping information is covered by 11 above.

"From" and "to" are where the load originates and terminates, but, again, this is not an FMCSA requirement.

Company policies may require more information than FMCSA. YMMV.

Technicaly speaking you can not log into the future, only to your last change of duty status, being called in for the emergency is exactly why you are not supposed to log into the future. Also you must make sure you do not exceed the 14 hr time span or you get 10 hours off duty before coming back on duty. That is how I always taught students to log it at CDL school. If you make a mistake on your book just neatly scribble through it and put your initials there, perfectly legal, just keep it as neat as possible.

It's 100 air miles not nautical miles.
