Trying to figure this out...
If I run 700 miles and I want to calculate how much I am paying for diesel (say it's 70 cents per litre)... what should the average litres per mile be? Is it around 40? Not mpg.
Miles per litre?

I'm not clear on what your asking? But you will need to convert gallons to liters, 1gal = 3.78541 liters. The only way to know the answer to your question is to find how much fuel was consumed (which is not given).
If your asking how much $0.70 / liter to gallon is, $2.65 plus or minus the conversion rate of currency.Last edited: Jul 24, 2016

Take the number of miles driven and divide by the number of liters used this will give you the MPL(miles per liter)
-
if you have mpg figured out just divide that number by 3.785
that will give you miles per litre since it takes 3.785 litres to make 1 us gallon -
More like 2.1 miles per Litre.
-
Canadian Gallon has 4.54 Litres. 2.1 miles per litre would work out to 2.1 x 4.54 = 9.534 MPG
-
Why do people ever use Canadian gallons anymore? I have never come across any place that dispenses it by the cdn. gallon.

Theres a few websites that can do this conversion for you really easy.

That's how the automakers can claim their vehicles get such great mileage. Window sticker on pickup says 22 mpg highway. Worked it out on paper. 17-18 when using US gallon, 21-22 when working it out with Cdn. gallon. Clever marketing if you ask me lol.Macneil Thanks this.

I always figured the MPG on the window sticker of my pickup was figured out with the vehicle in tow lol
