Yesterday I had a delivery in Newport Tennessee.
Newport Tennessee is a sleepy little town in Tennessee southeast of Knoxville.
There are two U.S highways that converge there 25 and something else.
Well it's the only way through.
So, you're driving along, coming into town and there's nowhere to go and below the U.S. highway signs is an orange construction sign that says "NO TRUCKS".
Well gee that's nice. Should be a detour right?
Nope. DENIED.
It just means highway closed no trucks.
So I'm mosying along see "detour" arrow, and local PD has Werner lit up in this alley type way, which is where the sign takes you.
So, I'm like F. I back down the street, cut through a Walgreens, and get to what seems to be the main drag that is the detour.
Another local PD has Werner blocked in front.
God as my witness, I would have done the same thing Werner did.
I go down the main drag, and it's painfully obvious no trucks are supposed to be there, and there's another local PD with an independent lit up.
Now trucks are moving around.
I go to the end of main drag, turn left, sheriff has Swift lit up. Again trucks are moving.
So I get back on U.S. highway, customer is on that side of town.
Two more sheriff's go by me heading to downtown.
It's a free for all for law enforcement.
The only reason I didn't get cited, they were out of cops!!!!!!!!
How in F is this legal??????????
Took almost a 20 mile detour from the other side of town to get back on the highway.
Most bizarre construction zone EVER

If it was a pickup, I’d have left it there. If it was a delivery, I’d have called them from the interstate and told them to come get it.
I’ll be sure to put Newport on my list of communist ####holes.
BTW, avoid Selmer, TN as well. Don’t go through there, don’t bring them anything and don’t pick up anything for them. Let them starve.hagarcobra, fargonaz, Sirscrapntruckalot and 2 others Thank this. -
You would have called then how? There was no warning until you were 100 yards in front of it.tscottme, hagarcobra and Dark_Majesty_06 Thank this.

A few years ago I stayed at that truck stop there and walked over to the tavern.
I'm telling the locals how I just saw a car pulled over and there was 4, 5 or 6 cop cars behind it and they must have done someting bad.
But that's the way they do it, they all show up.
#pointlesswore out and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
What truck stop? The one by 40 that's like 10 miles away? That's how I went back out.wore out Thanks this.
-
I liked the one at exit 432 it has the bar, I think the one at exit 440 sells carryout.
At Crete we loaded at ConAgra a lot so I'd get there by taking exit 440 or 432.wore out and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
What’s wrong with Selmer besides the red light cameras and school zones? I deliver there off the bypass several times a month and never had an issue.wore out Thanks this.
-
Exit 432 is how I went in. Went out way, way south, there's a truck stop there.
There's just no way that can be justified though.
Just F you, no trucks. You're a truck driver figure it out.
Never experienced anything like that, except in military training where they F with your head in no win scenarios.mhyn, Mattflat362, tucker and 2 others Thank this. -
Money, money, money...
Dave_in_AZ and G13Tomcat Thank this. -
