It looks like someone slammed on brakes and the others didn't have time to react.

Of course 4 wheelers seem to think they are safe coming to a stop behind tractor trailers.

I don't see how anybody who watches the news over the past 10 years could feel safe being at the back of stopped traffic on an otherwise high speed interstate highway. But what are they supposed to do? What other option is there?

But the thing is, if you can safely proceed slowly by the crash site, do so to speed up emergency response arrival to the scene and to keep back up as minimized as possible. A car and a u-haul. I have a hard time imagining traffic has to be backed up more than an hour just due to that.

If response is already being done, get out of the way. Sitting staring and clogging everything up causes more accidents, keep looking , someday you going to not be able to unsee what you saw.

Anything but being at the bumper of a big truck. The shoulder is an option. There rarely isn't a way out.

Shoulder really should not be an option in many locations as this is the only way for emergency responders to get to a crash scene in a somewhat timely manner.

    Lepton1 Thanks this.

If I’m in my car and the only options are sitting behind a truck or the shoulder, I’ll take the shoulder every time. And if there is space enough to squeeze all the way through? Bye bye.

I’m not sitting in stopped traffic while dumb ####s who can’t be bothered to look up from their phone are driving up behind me.
