My course was long too and learned a lot.I attended a college the stay there was free. The instructors were all very attentive with each student and would work with the ones like myself one on one.I had trouble with my alley dock and an instructor worked with only me for hrs till I finally aced it so I could pass the test.

Hello Everyone,
Day - 10 Wednesday November 19th, 2014
This is a 160 hour course in 17 days with one day off on the second week. I have 60 hours/6 days left in my training.
Day - 10 Yard with instructor Martin. Student per instructor ratio was 9 to 1. The students were waiting for Mr. Martin for 1 1/2 hours until the Director of Education (Joe) came out to teach us because instructor Martin never showed up. Most of the students were not happy about it. There were a couple of absent students on the for road class and Joe ask if me if I want to go on the road. Of course I said yes because I really needed the practice on clutching. I got instructor Kirk when I went on the road. Mr. Kirk help me a lot when It came to clutching and I learned a lot from him. I still don't feel that I' m ready to take the CDL road test yet and I have probably only one or two more days for road. I had two hours of road time today with a total of 5 hours on the road. I still have not done driver side or conventional parallel parking and alley dock. The only thing I can do is to keep pressing forward and see where it goes and then go from there.pattyj Thanks this. -
You should see if you can have Kirk for the remainder of your schooling.
ryfry Thanks this. -
I going to ask for instructor Kirk first thing tomorrow.
pattyj Thanks this. -
Please let us know what your school says.I think Kirk is the ticket to pass your road test. The other instructors are there only for a pay check it sounds like.

Day 11 November 20, 2014
Yard with Mr. Holland. Student per instructor ratio 9 to 1. The class a week ahead of us took there CDL test today and about 80% did not pass. MTC will only pay one more time for the students to take the test again. So they added the students who did not pass the test back to the yard and increased the ratio to 11 to 1 on my instructor. So once again I did not feel I got enough practice, However Mr. Holland was very patient and I did learn a lot. Today I did 1 straight line backing, 1 right offset, 1 left offset and 2 alley docks. This was my first time doing alley docks and I only have 5 days left. To be honest I feel that I will not be ready to take the test. If I pass the pre trip, the yard and not pass the road test. I can only take the road test 2 more times and then have to wait another year. So my truck driver friend has contacts with a company who will teach me more road driving for 4 weeks, then I will be confident to take the road test. I might have to go that route. I did ask the Director of Education (Joe) again if I can come on my day off to learn pre trip and maybe do a couple of maneuvers. He said I could. So I'm going on Saturday from 11pm-3pm. I will keep everyone updated. -

Day 12 - November 21st, 2014
Yard with instructor Matty. Student per instructor ratio 15to 1. The instructor was 35 mins late and when he got here the truck would notstart up. The truck was fixed in another 40 mins. Matty is a new instructor and he had a paperon how to teach us to do alley dock. Because the student per instructor ratiowas 15 to 1. I only got to do alley dock 3 times in 10 hours. Sorry you're having such a tough time refry. If I was there id be teaching you the correct way. This is crazy how the schools teach. They make a killing off every class and the students don't get the time they should. You cannot learn how to back unless its consistant time per student,3 alley docks in 10 hrs is crazy.Hows all the other students doing, can you ask someone in your class for help?Like explain to you how hes doing his backing pretripping ect.

Hi patty
Most of my classmates are upset and some are very angry because of not getting enough yard and road time. My classmates are trying to help each other out to pass the test.
