Hi, I just entered the world of otr driving. I got my first truck, 2012 Freightliner Columbia. I am thinking of getting a truck gps, dash cam and satellite radio. I only have 1 12v socket in front to power all these things plus my cell phone. I know they make splitters to power these items, but dont want alot of wires coming down the front of the dash. I was looking at the power posts on top of the dash that are used for a cb. Is there a way to rig one of those splitters to get the power from the cb power post? TIA

Sure. Cut the plug off the splitter and strip the ends of the wires. Hook the power wire to the red post, and the ground wire to the black post. If both wires look the same, get a continuity tester so you don't hook it up backwards. Or, use a test light to make sure it is wired up correctly prior to plugging anything in.

Wouldn't hurt to wire a fuse into that setup as well. Unless you're positive there is one already between those posts and the power source.
