I was given a go ahead on this load from Woburn MA to Robbinsville NJ as a rush job at about 1:45PM on Friday to be delivered on Saturday. The persons name was Ned who verbally authorized me to go start traveling towards Woburn MA from my originating point which was Ayer MA. I was asked to provide him with my interstate authority and insurance and w-9 and three references, which were provided promptly. The rate for transportation was negotiated at its minimum possible for this area $450 for 314miles from Ayer MA to Woburn MA and unload at Robbinsville NJ. His manipulating expertise wanted me to do this load for $425, so he calls me right before I get near the pickup location during the traffic hours to ask me to see if I could give him more references. ( How many brokers do this kind of non-sense) I pulled over on Rout 3 near exit 27 to talk to him, he want me to give him more references before the load now. Under no circumstances you could do that while you are in Bostons traffic at the rush hour on a Friday afternoon. It might be his attempt to renegotiate the load to a better price or something else. But the bottom line is this broker has breached our verbal contract. My humbly request US Postal and DOT to bring this kind of brokers to their attention. Our beautiful nations pride lies in listening to all requests no matter how minute they may be.
