Our carrier gives us kerosene heaters with a battery powered auto lighter on it and a five-gallon can for sleeper heat. I'm looking for a better solution that runs off batteries. Any suggestions? P.S. it's the vertical one you can cook on that smokes bad if it runs low or the wick isn't set right. When I walk in to a shipper/receiver office everyone's eyes start burning and it's a little embarrassing
I use a zero degree magellan sleeping bag. Even if im stuck in the mountains its almost always enough to shut the truck off and sleep well. They have 12v truck heaters on amazon but not sure that would be enough to keep the whole cab warm.
Just wow. Find a different carrier. In the meantime, get a really good sleeping bag. The CO2 is going to kill you.
Here is the link to a thread I started a few days ago. I basically asked the same thing. There is a lot of useful advice here. Space heater, electric blanket, or 4-season sleeping bag?
You have a 5 gallon can of kerosene in the cab with you while sleeping? Whoever the service manager is at your carrier needs to place himself in your shoes for a couple nights. That’s just wrong. Check out these on Amazon. VEVOR Bluetooth App Control Diesel Air Heater, 12V 8KW Diesel Heater with Automatic Altitude Adjustment, Remote Control and LCD, Diesel Parking Heater for RV Trailer Camper Van Boat and Indoors https://a.co/d/dBHuBOh
First - QUIT THAT COMPANY What a crap company, lazy pos owners. Second I am on the fence with Little Buddy heaters in a truck (they are prohibited in my trucks) which I use here for different reasons but a Japanese type Kerosene heater is insane and illegal. Too much can happen, from O2 depletion to a fire, a huge fire. FMCSA 393.77 a-(2), (3) and (6) apply. Second I posted in another thread just get a portable diesel heater from Amazon, it takes 10 amps at start-up and 2-3 amps to run, it can use Kerosene by the way.
