keep trying, keep your head up, I would appeal the findings of the positive drug test stating that it must be a fasle positive and also appeal the incorrect statement of being sacked, when you actually quit. was the person that did the drug test qualified / and or did they follow the correct company procedure, as this in itself could quickly have the pos reading overturned. in the mean time approach smaller companies. good luck

I am not a regular Pot Smoker. I smoked Marijuana as a teen. My next door neighbor gave me the pot and I smoked it as a one time thing, it dont mean I am a drug addict. And as far as drinking you can keep the #### hangovers, Marijuana is safer, you cannot smoke yourself to death. I aint being mean but, I really am over people tellin others they need cousleing. I would never smoke weed while behind the wheel. Or while in possecion of a truck. I thankyou all for the advice and sympathy. I will be looking at smaller companies. I have driven for several small companies over the years. I am working on getting my life back together, it may take a little more time now but I will. by the way batman, I am a vetran drive with 13 years experince legally, I started driving at 16. My grandfather taught me and have 2 1 million mile awards and no accidents. also have served in the USN for 7.5 years my record speaks for itself.

People that say "time heals all wounds" are full of it.
The pain never leaves and you just learn to live with it.

I can't even imagine your pain.

I wish you the best of luck here - just keep pushing and moving forward. Something will happen for you....

I hope that you are not still smoking marijuana. If you are then you need to rethink getting back into this business until you can stay away from it. Even if you smoke on your days off, it can still be in your system and should you be called up for a random drug test, you could fail and lose your job. If you are involved in an accident, you could also have problems along with your carrier. As I stated in an earlier post, some carriers and testers are using hair in testing for drugs, and marijuana can show up for months even if it doesn't show up in the urine. I won't hire someone whom I know is using drugs. There is too much liability. And no matter what your drug of choice, it does impair your judgment. With everything we need to deal with on the road, we need to be alert and aware without anything in our system which can alter our judgment. You already have one failed drug test on your record. If you are able to find a carrier to give you a chance you really need to make sure to stay away from ALL drugs. Another failed drug test will certainly destroy your career in this business. By the way, the ATA is pushing for a central clearing house to keep a record of all failed drug testing results. They want to require everyone who has CDL drivers to check the driver against this database prior to hiring them. It will be more difficult to get around a positive drug test if they are successful.

G/man: Me smoking pot after the death of my wife was a one time event. I never said I was a regular smoker. I have not smoked pot on a regular basis in over 30 yrs. And when I did smoke recently I was unemployed and not in possesion of a truck. I was not under fed dot guidlines and certianly not driving. I am very aware of my mistake and I do not need any further prossecussion. I messed up and I admit that but, I am probely more responsible than 90% of the drivers on the road. I have served in the US Navy and have a honorable discharge. as I stated b4 my reputation speaks for itself.
