Sexual harrasment

From my experience as well as every one else can agree its how you carry yourself that will get you the negative attention and harrasment tthat you dont want/need. yYou will have your hands full working than go worry about riff raffs (other than hobbos) giving you reasons to wack 'em. Sexual harrasment in my eyes is nonexistent in trucking companies. If youre at a truck stop you cant be treated any different than the female s that work the counters at flying J for example. That is yiur 1st.c Oncern adressed

PAY (a serious concern)

The second concern was about being" screwed over " by trucking companies and while there are those. Its really simple for over-the-road truckers. Any where from 2800 - 3600 miles a week is considered an average work week. Meaning that if a company will run you those miles at around a minimum of .30 cent/ml. Youre average should be in the $900 to $1200 dollars/week. Anything below those threshold s be WARNED! its the cost of living that merits that much pay for that much effort.
Where to work?
Depends but you talk about wanting 2weeks on (working) at a time and that is usually some of the aspects of regional drivers time frames.
LTL = less than a load (not a full trailer load) and watch out for counting on your own (make sure its the shipper that counts whenever possible.
Many questions will arise as you come accross different experiences but not to worry as there will always be an opininated trucker to put in his or her 2 cents. Lola best of luck. And see you on the road.

 

Ok, one issue was brought up but not touched on and another that I know is important to the female drivers I have run with. Pepper spray - is not legal in all states and in MI only a certain percentage, I think 10%, is allowed. Though having a keychain sprayer would not raise any alarms. Firearms in a commercial vehicle is not allowed under federal law.
The other issue is bathroom facilities. Some shippers/receivers only have port-a-pots or nothing at all.

 

That is an inaccurate statement. There is no federal law against carrying a firearm in a CMV.

 

Just have to follow each individual state's law.
