In 1973 it was a guarantee that was honored... assuming the AFQT results were sufficient to place you in that field. There was an "escape clause" that allowed folks out if the AF couldn't provide a slot in that specialty.

Otter, that was way too long. The caring part of my brain zoned out. I skimmed for my "name" and my conclusion is that they'll DAC you out for whatever they feel like. Ultimately if you feel like your DAC doesn't accurately reflect what you should contact them. Maybe I'll read the rest of that later, but I doubt it.

i signed one of them military contracts.
i was honorably discharged before boot camp. my CO should take care of things before i leave. but then he got his month assignment to hawaii. and second in command had me discharged while CO was away.
all becuase of a traffic ticket not yet paid. -
Otherhalf is correct! The trainee is not responsible for anything! The lead driver or in this case, trainer is responsible for the load. However, that being said, if you quit now during training, with no notice, during a load you are going to find it hard finding another driving job.
Is there a reason (sorry if I missed reading) you want to quit? Is the trainer bad, not getting along, or making you do something you don't want to do? Is this just not in your cards? You've come this far to just quit. Can you not stick it out until you upgrade?otherhalftw Thanks this. -

Communication is key.Talk to your company when your trainer is not around.

Companies can put anything they want on your DAC "hire right", and you are stuck attempting to correct it. I wouldn't quit under a load.

I think the big problem with the trucking industy is that companies hires someone w/cdl and put them with a trainer and runs them like a team. No way they can train from the sleeper! When I came back into the industry I was fortunate enough to have the money to pay for a driving school to get my CDL. I took a job with Werner and completed training and got assigned my truck and ran solo 4 months. Had a load assigned but before I picked it up I walked into dispatch and told them to take it off me and handed them the keys. Was placed on LOA and was availabe for rehire. If i was in the OP position I would wait until I completed the load I was on and tell the compay I am out of here. Most companies have you sign an "At Will Employment"form saying they can let you go for any reason or no reason w/out any notice. That being the case I don't think I owe the company any notice before I walk out the door.
