Before I had an APU, I used one of those 12v plug in bunk warmers. Went to bed with the cab nice and warm, and it was usually about 3 or 4 AM til it was noticeable cold in the truck. I was still warm in the bunk though.

i might try the mattress pad/12v bunk heater; Do these have any problems with draining the batteries down?

i will probably also try the extreme sleeping bag idea as the battery idea, while do-able and i like it, is a little cost-prohibitive right now. Will report back later.

I'm sitting here burning $9 - $10 a night in fuel running my home made redneck APU which is a Honda EU3000 generator with a roof top A/C and 1500 watt space heater. Where can I buy the Webasto for $895???

    UPDATE:

Ok, i implemented the sleeping bag idea. Marmot trestles 0 degree bag. Works very good----i tried it at about 28 degrees. Felt like the heater was on.

i think this is the solution for anyone who can't idle or does not want to idle in the cold. It's about $120-130ish. Can't be beat for value. The only thing negative is that it is made in China. So, we will see about durability. Not designed in China though.

i will post a review probably in the experienced truckers section.
