You also will get official looking letters in the mail that are also scams. Do not fall for those either.
The calls seem to never stop. And blocking doesn't work, they just hang up and call from another number.
Good luck in your venture!

SNAFU, get use to it it’s kinda normal after getting your authority. Calls, texts, mailbox, you’ll get them from every angle. At times you can get bombarded with so much bs it nearly makes ya want to hurt yourself….. -
I’ve had my authority for around 10 years. Been inactive the last 2. I still get calls, texts, and official looking letters all the time. It’s all just scam.
nikmirbre and bullhaulerswife Thank this. -
How does inactivating your authority affect your insurance rates when you get back? The reason I'm asking is because I want to travel to Southeast Asia next year, and my broker tells me that my rates will go up if I "lapse". Is she just trying to scare me?
-
I started up my authority a few days ago. Did you file ucr for 2025 and 2026? I was told to file for both years even tho I should only file for 2026. Congratulations on your new authority btw!
nikmirbre Thanks this. -
Yes file both years. I THINK your 2025 will be pro rated......

I'm surprised no one has done anything about some of these companies. Because you are right some of these letters come from very official sounding government names and places. It's hard to know what's legit and not! I put my authority inactive 2 years ago and was getting tons of calls and letters about my MCS-150. Finally had to make some calls to insure i wasn't in the wrongMattflat362, mwhjr1988 and nikmirbre Thank this.

Not scare tactics. It is real. I got hurt and figured heck I will be out for 6 months so why not get a refund from my insurance? The entire system is disgusting. Your authority will need to be voluntarily suspended....which is a joke because to the people that matter it just appears as your authority was suspended with no mention of voluntarily or why! If you have great relationships with shippers and/brokers you can let them know at least but for the most part you get screwed!

I sold my authority 2 years ago and still get spammed!
