Opinions on this topic will vary, of course.

My own personal suggestion -- start out doing dry van duty, first -- & learn how to really drive a big rig.

THEN -- move up to hauling cars, after you have mastered that first skill set.

The auto haulers (especially as I write this) pretty much want some experience elsewhere, first.

I don't know of any on the West Coast, unless Hogan has lowered the requirements from one year experience. I've seen Hogan car haulers delivering in Las Vegas.
On the East Coast, Cassens (car hauler) hires new cdl school grads.

You don't say where in southern California you are located (and that would help out -- A LOT).....so....

Werner Enterprises is looking for drivers in southern California -- as I write this:

You could certainly do a lot worse than Werner.....& they have both dry van and reefer accounts.

If you don't like one -- put in for a transfer to the other.....
