To me it’s logical, but to them it might have to be through an approved vendor or accepted school. I was just curious. It probably is accepted but I like to be sure with them.

I think you may be talking about the bendix cert program. Think I’ve seen it online

The cops are not the one you worry about, it is that auditor who asked for the certs you worry about.

I have two employees who have their carts, they went through the process to do it right but because I don't have a single truck ... they are there to make sure the trucks are up to my standards. If it was my truck, with my driving my truck, I repair it, I sign off on it ... and the dot accepts it.

If they make it illegal to do your own repairs they'll just have to take me to jail. 3 hots and cot, maybe I'll even get a window seat.

I reviewed some of my older driver cards given at orientation end, med, roadtrip, off duty etc sign sign sign road test sign.. brake adjust certificate. Signed.

Thats one thing I did not get anything from in the process that week. They just handed it out several different outfits. So on paper I could do whatever i wanted with those brakes. Just never had to deal with those automatics too much, whatever a big problem was bypassed, then taken care of at the shop.

If that happens it’ll just be another rule aimed at running off a bunch more independents.

I’ve never had a problem, only once in Ohio, they let me adjust myself. You never know what ideas certain States can come up with. For instance I read once, in NJ, a tire can only be changed/ repaired on the side of the highway, by a Authorized Tire Tech. There is guidance on this subject. It’s a little vague though.Same with Annual Inspections. I see most O/O s on here do ytheir own.Any feedback on that subject?

I'll toss my hat in the ring, I bought a little midroof 120 which was in her day a gem with that little 400 plus kitty and short rockwell 9. One of the papers in the pile I was supposed to get into was a vehicle inspection for the year. At that time I could do it myself as owner. Bank would hold title through a company designed to clear it and have me independant with title in 4 years time. A form of school. But it is still a straight purchase.

As such that inspection form annual would have been signed by me. If I chose to I can have a shop do it. The vehicle that year was the best of the remuda and had a recent inspection all in.

Im sorry I cannot offer much. My story is not like others in this life and don't expect it to be. Im just a old company driver put to pasture. But I have had a nose for keeping up those kinds of things on my assigned company tractors.

The brake certs from the manufacturers are legit, when I was at the shop we would go to their classes for the hamburgers and get a card, like everybody else does.

Now that you mention it, I see a lot of "professional" tire repairs, especially on the NJTP, they can find more ways to make you spend money in Jersey, that's why I'm leaving, can't afford to live here anymore. Ever since 911, there's been an influx of NYorkers, I wouldn't mind, if they only left the city attitude and driving habits behind, it's always, me 1st, then you, and the classic, get the F outta my way.
