Man, do the type of trucking you want to do, regardless of what anyone tells you. If you want to do open deck, do it. Unless you have some seriously debilitating injury you'll be fine. Check out Post flatbed load photos here V2.0 to get an idea of what flatbedding is like. If you want to get into specialized and heavy haul and go play with the big trucks... Big Loads - Post Photos Number 2, you can do that too.

Wether it's open deck, van, reefer, tanker, livestock etc., whatever you decide you want to do, do what makes you want to get up in the morning and be proud of what you've accomplished.

If you let money, or fear, or someone else's stupid opinion influence you, you'll be miserable every day as you wait on your job to take the last bite out of your soul.

He has a bad back. That's why I recommended no-touch freight.

As a female who is 5 foot even and less than 100 lbs…. Yes, you can do it. It’s really just a matter of whether or not you want to. Some times when I’m tarping I hate my life, but I always love it. I couldn’t go back to dry van or reefer.

Yes, the point is, he knows his limitations. Being a nurse, he is more attuned to his body than the average person with no medical knowledge or training.
His initial post states: "I have existing back issues from working 17 years as a nurse. A back brace and the occasional ibuprofen usually get me by."

All I’m saying is nobody can answer that question for him, can he do it? Yes absolutely, but does it suck sometimes in the best of conditions? Absolutely. So do you want to deal with it and go for it or do something else? It’s your call and your call only. No shame either way.

Right, we can give him company names and he can decide from there.
