Will someone please explain these new HOS rules coming out? I understand the rule about after 8 hours of driving, you're required to take a 30 min break. But what I'm confused about is the new 36 hour deal?

Its a 34 hour rule ... not 36
The new rule for getting a 34 hour reset in is that during the 34 hours it has to include 2 periods of time from 1 AM to 5 AM.
So for example if you started your reset at 2AM that first night wouldnt count.
Also you can only use 1 34 hour reset per weekVoltrucker Thanks this. -
Why would I want to use more than one 34 hour reset in a week?
-
well i used 2 a week and didnt want to but running a reefer in the meat patch as a company driver i didnt have lots of choice in it. i no longer work for that company either.
-
Its not that you "want" to lol, but it does happen on occasion. But anyway it wasnt a rule before but it is now that you can not take more than one in a week.

Nice ride buzzard

the second 34 hour rule doesnt affect much with all the hours you would have
if say you did a 34 ran 2 days 21 hours another 34 still have 49 hours to run -
it's one 34 every 7 days. not a week.
they way it was explained on the radio. OVER AND OVER. i won't be taking my normal 34's every normal weekend. 7 days have to pass.
in other words. your typical weekend starts one day later each week.
so yeah, what happens for those trucks that can't find a load for a couple of days. -
36? I been doing 24hr restarts. Shoot, I never swapped the 10/8 rule. Well, I doo 11/8
-
And there are how many days in a week?
You can start your next 34 hour restart, 168 hours after you started your last one. If you start this one at 6PM on Friday, you may start your next one at 6PM next Friday.drvrtech77, Cowpie1, RickG and 1 other person Thank this.
