And you don't even stop to take dump, a leak, or get a bite to eat? Are you on Elogs? With paper it is a none issue thanks to 15 min blocks. Just do the round down / round up thing. In every other job, an employee is allowed a lunch break of at least 30 min. You are saying you are not? And you enjoy being an indentured servant? Why would anyone want to work that way, I will not understand. And in the 21st century no less.

Boy have we as a culture really hit new lows. In the middle ages, a serf who was obligated to the local duke/knight/prince was required to work 3 months out of the year for that person to enjoy his protection and help. We basically work 6 months out of the year to pay all the various taxes from income to vehicle to sales. And now it has come down to the situation where working folks are no longer allowed a 30 minute lunch break anymore! Man, I am depressed.

Yeah, but I get paid to stop to take a leak, a dump, etc etc... Maybe I'm looking at it wrong, and should wait until July to see how the company deals with the new regs. I am paid from the time I enter the gate, to the time I leave the gate at the end of the day... So I don't like the feds taking away 30 minutes of my time for something I'm currently paid for, that's what I'm getting at.

The 30-minute break has nothing to do with pay. Your company can still pay you like they do now.

Not necessarily true. You can still work after 14hrs, just not drive.

    Safety director here again:
I just taught my drivers this rule and I will try to explain here without the aid of the visual aid I gave them

11 hours driving (same as before)
14 hours of on-duty (same as before)
60/70 hours in 7/8 day rule (same as before)
34 hour reset (same as before but with a twist....read more)

all the rules are the same but with a slight twist now:

Team drivers....you can sit up in the passenger seat for up to 2-hours if its part of a 10-hour break (sleeper/off-duty combined).

MUST take a 30-minute break at or before the eighth hour of coming on-duty.

34 hour reset has change. Still have 34 hours to have a reset BUT...within that 34 hours you MUST have two periods within that 34 hours of time from 1am till 5am (MANDATED).

    Examples:
    1. you shut down at midnight Saturday...go back to work on Monday at midnight. You have two periods of 1-5am here (Saturday and Sunday) plus well over 34 hours. GOOD

    2. you shut down at midnight Saturday...go back to work on Sunday morning at 10am. You have two periods of 1-5am here (Saturday and Sunday) plus exactly 34 hours. GOOD

    3. you shut down at 2 A.M on Saturday...go back to work on Sunday morning at noon. You only have one period of 1-5am here (Sunday), but you have the 34 hours. BAD Reason...remember you have to have two consecutive days (periods) of 1-5am periods, on Saturday you missed the first period by one hour (started late) thus the entire day of Saturday only counts for the 34 hour rule but not the 1-5 am period. You can't use the 34 hour reset rule till you complete another 1-5am period (or Monday 5am). OR...go back to work using the recap as we did before the 34 hour rule can to play.

Hope this helps you guys. I will post my handout that I made for my drivers in the morning here (its at the office).

    Not quite that simple .
    http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/rules-regulations/topics/hos/index.htm
You cannot for example be in the sleeper for 4 hours , come out for 2 hours off duty then go back in the sleeper . 8 consecutive hours in sleeper is still required in a moving CMV .

No, the keyword is as stated in the reg. A team driver may log off duty, for 2 hours, immediately before, or after 8 consecutive hours in the sleeper berth.
