Hi everyone my cousin is just about to finish getting his class A CDL and is looking for a job as a O/O.

He is 37 years of age and is looking for a home every other day or every 2 days.

I myself have 7 years of experience with heavy haul flatbed work but I'm not authorized to work in the United States as of yet until I get my work permit. "Canadian CDL Class A"

I don't mind getting into the truck with him as a passenger to make sure he's safe out there until I get my authorization to drive legal in the United States as well than we'll operate as a team.

    Thanks everyone

    Coffey Thanks this.

    Where does your cousin live?
If he wants to be an 0/0 someday, he should become a member of www.OOIDA.com which is a website for the owner-operator and small fleet owner.

Insurance will be horrendous as a new driver and no years driven. Tho I understand the need and desire to own.

"Looking for a job as an O/O? You realize that O/O stands for Owner Operator, right? If he is just finishing getting his CDL, I doubt if he's in any position to buy or lease his own truck and become an O/O.

    Badmon Thanks this.

He live in the state of Michigan, Troy to be exact.
I'm aware of that an owner operator still needs a job position. My post here is to get helpful information not negative responses. Don't assume someones not in the position to buy or lease without knowing his financials.

If you have nothing positive to say please save yourself the time and move forward.

He should become a company driver somewhere first.
It's next to impossible for a new driver that just got a cdl, to be insured for an 0/0 and even get loads.
I'd address all this to www.OOIDA.com for the details.
It would be beneficial to both of you, for him to be a company driver until you are able to work in the USA. Then buy the truck.

He's planning on putting that truck with a company and operate under their authorities.

He still has to be insured. Maybe someone like @Ridgeline can give details.
    Maybe it's different in Canada.

Carter Express has a terminal in Romulus, Michigan and hires new cdl school grads and also has their own cdl school.
This company has local positions and also has long runs hauling auto parts out of Laredo, Texas back to the auto manufacturers in Michigan.
