Do plenty of homework. Watch for trucks picking up and delivering near where you live. Start your search there. Find out if ant of those companies train. Also find out if the company has its own CDL school. Company run schools are usually cheaper, the downside is you might have to make a commitment to them for a year or so. Drive to alocal truck stop and talk to the drivers there, they will talk to you, most of us love to talk to another human, we ride around by ourselves all the time. This is not so much a job as it is a lifestyle. Make sure that you and your family are ready for you to be away from home for long periods of time, two to three weeks at a pop. You won't get rich at this job, but with hard work you can make a living. Good luck with your search. You found a good place to start here.

Notice the "we" part, CRST runs teams with all their new drivers till they "earn" a solo truck. Good luck with that. Teaming can be fun with the right team mate, but when the company picks one for you, blah...

no the only way you "earn" a solo truck is if you buy it. crst is a team operation. if ur a lease operator or a owner operator u can run solo if your company u run teams. i got lucky and am teamed up with my buddy of 13 years so it works great for me.
