Hi all,
Trucker in Training here. Start School on Monday next week and I am looking to do work in the industry. Not looking for OTR work yet. This is my 3rd career change in 30 years. I was in the USAF for 6 years where I learned to drive all manner of vehicles. My second career was with a Fortune 500 manufacturing company doing a little bit of everything for 28 years when they downsized me. 2 years shy of a full retirement.
Tried doing my hobby for the last few months and worked as a Service Manager for a Bike Shop. Didn't work out and I left. Started to really search what I knew I could do and while I loved Transportation in my military career, I decided to give it a go for this career change.
Kids grown and gone, house almost paid for, two vehicles in the garage paid for and not needing anything there. Lump Sum payment in a safe secure fund so I won't be broke when I retire. Did the Air National Guard thing till I could get a retirement from them also.
I guess what I am saying, is that I feel pretty secure enough to get into this industry and give it a good shot. Do what I have to do and give it my all. I always wanted to do this, and now it is time.
