I think I've found my answer. It's a minor defect at the very worst because technically there is no leak. There is nothing coming into the "occupants compartment", which would he considered a major defect. Wouldn't pass an annual safety but as far as pre trip inspections go it looks as though it remains a minor issue.
It's really no worst than the grain haulers that cut the stacks right (barely 6 inches) above the cab to get under the lower overhead loading bins.
On another note, I will retract my statement about things being more lenient here. I know a few guys that got nailed with that chain tag thing. Depends on what issue your looking at I guess when determinng if they are going to be more anal about something.
No exhaust stack ?
