Just went on My Garmin and saw a free map update available. Looks like it updates map from 2010.10 to 2010.20. Thought Id let everyone know.:biggrin_25525:

Well, I've had a "less than stellar" experience with this today.

The update is free if it is less than 60 days since registration. My unit is 61 days old since registration. It's $70 for a one-time update or $120 for lifetime updates.

So after buying the update I have downloaded it twice and had the same results twice while it is "extracting." I get a "file is corrupt" error. So I'm giving up for tonight and will try again tomorrow. Pehaps the file "got corrupted" on their server and it will be corrected by tomorrow.

Ok, I got it all sorted out. Here's a summary:

IMPORTANT FYI for all owners of this product.

Garmin has put up on their web site 2 software updates to these. One is a "firmware" update to try to correct some bugs and the other is a "maps" update. The firmware update is done by using their "Updater" application and by plugging your unit into a computer. This was a pretty straight-forward process and fairly quick and free.

The maps update is $70 if your unit is older than 60 days. If you registered your 465T less than 60 days ago then I suggest that you get this update before that time limit expires. They also have a "lifetime updates" option there for $120. The file size download for this update is HUGE and the extraction / update process is lengthy so I also suggest that you have over an hour and a good internet connection when you perform it. This update consists of a new NavTeq maps database for addresses and roads, but does NOT contain any truck routing changes until whenever they put out the next one.

Thanks Diesel, I got both of these. I hope they release a major map update though in the future, this GPS has potential but needs to have the bugs worked out of it to make it truly truck friendly.

I just got mine back from service the other day and there are some software changes. The first one I noticed is that you can turn off the sharp turn warning. Plus the map update now shows the interstate that runs by the yard that previously wasn't there.
