I’ve been trucking 12 years total. Over 2 million miles. No accidents/no tickets. Have tanker, doubles, haz endorsements.
Bought new T680 fall of 21.
Company I run under is pretty good, however they don’t do customer direct. Just hunting load boards.
It was great for about a year.
But now rates have completely collapsed.
I’ve set mileage records for 2 different companies in the past. So I’d like to think I work pretty hard. Single, no kids. Currently in Vegas but from Indiana and can go anywhere.
I’d like to work directly for a customer or broker that has decent paying freight. I will go where the money is.
But this taking the scraps left on public load boards is not sustainable.
If anyone can help, I know I can do good work for you. Or if anyone knows where there might be decent paying freight that needs help.
Thanks

Some other folks can chime in
I’d contact landstar and admiral merchants
Don’t worry about the percentage they take off the top.
The actual revenue per mile or per week or whatever is what matters .
I worked with a company for a couple years that took 25% off the top and they didn’t even own the trailers . It was power only .
they were just dispatch , but they knew the right people and got High paying loads
Even after they took their 25% I still got nearly double what everyone else’s was paying .
you’re on the right track,
You’ve got to have direct customers . -
Check the trucking jobs section for Bonder. He has an ad for work in North Dakota for the summer. I don't remember the details but I'm pretty sure it is a lot better than load board freight.

I will check them out. I thought about Lanstar. Maybe I’m wrong and I’m over valuing myself but I feel like I’ve worked too hard to be competing with brand new drivers and really crappy brokers taking whatever is left on the load board.

a lot of large trucking companies list stuff on the load boards to see if they can get it hauled cheaper than their own trucks can do it .
If you can pass the military background check you might want to see if you can get into some of the companies that haul military cargo
Although a lot of them require teams or at least a passenger who stays awake at night while the driver sleeps . -
Ok thank you

Your better off where your at now. Incase you haven’t been following the threads on here, it’s extremely bad EVERYWHERE. Only ones that are getting by are mostly the ones with a dedicated route. We are in a inflation crisis, it’s gonna take time to recover and next year probably won’t be any better due to being an election year.
fordconvert Thanks this. -
Yes I understand and maybe you’re right. But I do agree with the previous commentor that it’s only the scraps that end up on a public load board. And unfortunately that’s what my company is working off of. They are European and they are good people very honorable and very buttoned up but they just have not been able to find an in with a customer so that they can haul directly for that customer.
