Honest opinions needed. OO or IC

Is it better to run under someone else's authority paying them for cheaper insurance rates, plates, trailer ECT OR obtaining own authority, getting own plates, insurance, ECT?

    Thank you!

It depends. If someone would let your run your own show, such as finding your own loads, taking time off, and so on for a decent "percentage" to cover over head, it could be better to lease. If you have knowledge, and patience, and like to do a lot more paper work, and expanding your operation I/C is better. At current times that the market is in, I wouldn't suggest the I/C route, but I would suggest preparing everything to become an I/C in the near future once the market is better.

IMO Independent is the only way. I don't know lazy, so, it's great for me.

Depends on what you want to do. It's easier to lease to a company that has an established customer base, but they obviously will want a cut of the revenue. If you want all the money for yourself, by all means get your own authority, plates , permits, insurance, etc and beat the underbushes looking for something to haul

As a ic with a good company that has their own customers, not just broker freight you can do good, lease to someone that is just passing you broker freight you could get without them why bother.
I lease to a company and move a lot of freight for companies that would not do business with a 1 truck operator all are Fortune 500 companies and pay enough to give the company their cut.

I'm currently an IC. The idea of having a bit more freedom as an OO is attractive but from what I have been reading on here the cpm as OO is not too far from what make as an IC.
