    course they can, its their elog system. They can configure and program the system however they want.

    only if the FM or Dispatcher allows you to bobtail in off duty status or possibly a lease but not sure. I wouldn't think so b/c the truck is not yours. My company recently started off duty "line 5" but don't know if other companies do. Post it in the company you work for's thread if there is one.

    The company i am with allows 1hr of off duty driving a day. If its abused they will disable it

    You can also do this as a company driver in traffic jams

    The company I'm with allows us 10 miles a day for personal conveyance. And it is a company truck. If I owned the truck, I'd use my truck that way as much as I wanted, within my business plan, and if the company I was leased to had a big issue with it, I'd lease elsewhere. But, I don't think a logbook, eLog or paper, has to actually have a "line 5". If you meet all the other stipulations, you can just log off duty and be ok anyway.
