Yea they do quite a bit with the oilers. I had a guy leased that had ten of them, I got a phone call at three AM once that one of his units was on fire and had burned up three quarters of a Halliburton frac spread. That was a hellaciously expensive screwup caused by cheap propane hosing from the factory my insurance had to pickup half the bill and told me they wouldn't cover his stuff anymore.

And he's right they do sleep a bunch.

Yep pretty close except he was rigged up in line with the frac spread so the fire jumped from million dollar unit to million dollar unit.

I'm familiar with frac water heaters. They'll be on some of our jobs during to winter months. Just never heard them called "hot oilers."

Frac heaters and hot oilers while being essentially the same are different in many ways. Frac heaters are used exclusively for heating water while hot oilers can heat flammable liquids without the fire problem. Frac heaters are usually trailer mounted and hear upwards of 3000 degrees while hot oilers are usually bobtail units and don't heat that hot.

A boring job was being the water truck on a frac. Sometimes I'd pump 4 or 5 times in a night. Others I wouldn't pump at all if they sanded off. Great money though. Eventually the fracker figured out how to turn my pump on and sometimes wouldn't even wake me up haha

Yep I've been there as the gel transport. We would sit on location for three to five days then go refill and come back, or sometimes we would get rigged in and couldn't leave for the duration of the one of the other trucks would have to come refill. Longest I was ever on a job was 3 weeks straight billing 24/7 at 180 an hour that was the best money I ever made with a truck.
