i had a oil sample pulled at my last oil change to try to determine where i was on my oil change intervals if i need to be changing sooner or if i can go further. but not really sure how to determine that from the numbers given in this sample.

anything that catches anyone eye that i should monitor?

That's really tough to read, driver (o.K, so I'm frickin OLD!)... I use blackstone labs for my oil sampling... the analysis is pretty easy to understand... I look for fuel and coolant results in my oil samples... you don't want EITHER of those to show up in the results... Lead is also an issue (indicated bearing wear)... Hope that helps.

I don't see anything that jumps out at me... what was the interval between changes?

Let the next one go for 10k and see if there's any significant rise in wear metals... you might want to consider an oil bypass system to extend your interval... I'm having the Spinner II Model 560HE installed during my overhaul and switching to Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel full synthetic... once I get up and running (hopefully by Monday), I will be taking oil samples every 10k miles... I WILL be posting updates here once I start getting some reportable data such as improved fuel economy, etc... I personally know 2 drivers who have gone over 300k miles on the same oil using this setup... the system (with 1 replacement cartridge ($60 each) for the 40k service), cost me $600 from the Iowa 80 website... more to follow, but, in the meantime, since you place some pretty heavy demand on your motor, I'd stay at the 10k-15k range for oil changes, but change the full flow oil filters every 5k miles... just my opinion, of course.

    low...lol

im not sure what exactly its set at. it was a low hp motor to start with the p/o claimed to have had it bumped up some. but didn't remember what they had it set at.

all i really know is i'm rarely the first to the top of a hill but preforms decent.

its a pre emmisions motor no egr no waste gate or variable turbo or anything like that. smokes a bit as the turbo spools up but clears right up as soon as the turbo catches up to the motor.

I would suggest getting the power setting cranked up all the way if it's not already. You'll see the soot level go down.

It's not out of the ordinary, but it's higher than what I see. I have a Series 60 set at 550 hp and my soot is less than yours.

This is mine from last fall. Before I did a lot of the work to it. My soot has dropped to less than half of what it was. And I had it set at 515 hp.
