My husband just started driving flatbed OTR about 6 months ago. He was going through Oklahoma a few days ago and got a speeding ticket for under 10 mph over the limit. $70. The officer told him that the ticket would not go on his driving record as long as he paid it. Apparently this is an Oklahoma law for speeding tickets under 10 mph over the limit. Has anyone heard of this or had experience with it? My husband already has 3 speeding tickets on his record in the last 3 years!

Yes this common...it's a way for states to raise revenue. many years ago I got one for speeding in Nevada and the fine was only $20....called it a waste of resources ticket...guaranteed he put that $20 bill in his pocket , which was fine by me!
-
I'd look into that the cop isn't in charge of what gets turned in. The states have to turn in the ticket or loose federal funding. Having said that I've had tickets dismissed.

Well first tell your husband to slow down... then I would tell him to do what Nightwind suggested...

There tickets in three years? Look, it's not like the good old days when you could just pay the fine and forget about it. Today this pattern of behavior gets you in the unemployment line. No quality carrier is going to touch him with these tickets, and even the mega bottom feeders will cut ties with one more ticket. It's basically time to grow up or find a different career.

I think she said the ticket was for 10 mph UNDER
-
No, she meant less than 10 mph over the limit. So say doing 64 in a 55 zone.TequilaSunrise and 281ric Thank this.

Ohio did that too. My trainer got stopped for 65 in a 55 on the Turnpike and the officer said there was no points if paid within 10 days or something like that

It won't matter in a few months, your husband will be fired because he is an insurance hazzard at his company.
Chinatown and skyviper73 Thank this. -
The days of no points are over. Same as the days of taking a driver improvement class to avoid the points. The feds do not allow states to do this anymore for cdl holders.
Op, in my previous post I may have come across pretty harsh, I'm not insulting your husband, I'm just trying to get you and him to see the seriousness of todays trucking world. I'm in no position to throw stones, if you guys saw my driving record ten years ago you'd probably wonder how I lived to tell about it. But that stuff doesn't fly in today's world. Selling my ducati about crushed me, but it was that or find a new way to earn a living. That bike was really really bad on my license.
