I have a Cobra 25 WX ST that was given to me about 5 years ago and haven't found a use for it until recently. The radio was manufactured in 1999. I am just wondering if the age of the radio is enough alone to condemn it or if it is worth putting a little bit of $$ into. If it seems worth fixing then what are some things to have looked at specifically on the radio. I haven't used the radio in about four years either so I don't know what works and what doesn't, but last time I used it it worked. Also does anyone know what the "ST" function on this radio does?

1999 is not all that old for a radio...I have some radios that date back in the 70's and they still work just fine...Shouldn't have to do anything to it except hook it up, and start talking on it...
The "ST" (Sound Tracker) is Cobras version of "Top Gun" which is found on Magnum radios...Although not near as good. Most people didn't like the "Sound Tracker" fetcher... -
The Sound Tracker did work pretty good if it was being used with another Sound Tracker radio.

I've got the Cobra 29 LTD I bought from Smuggler's CB shop at Buckhorn Pa in 1989 and it still works fine. I always ran 2 radios. One stayed on 19 and the other was for ratchet jawing going down the road and the plants where you had to wait to be called on the cb.

Thanks for the replies everyone, you've all been pretty helpful in decided what to do from here. This radio was given to me for free but I still didn't want to have to buy another one. I like to try to make things last a while and rebuild them if necessary, kind of a big thing in this industry. However the particular cb will be used in my personal vehicle and not an otr application, I'll make the boss pay for one there. Thanks again for the replies folks.
