I think it's nearer $5K. I do know if you purchase a truck that already has it, the insurance company takes that into consideration with your quote / rate. Then if you disable it, which is quite complicated to do correctly, and something happens, guess where the blame is placed by default?

Semis are so far Behind the auto world on technology, the wife’s Toyota has all that bs on it and it actually works.. no false readings, I drove a truck with it on it a few times before I bought the Volvo and I wouldn’t have it on a truck, it’s nice in the grocery getter tho.. I wouldn’t invest thousands of dollars to go work at prime regardless
D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -
There was a story not long ago that the Chinese had come up with a virus that just wreaks havoc on these systems. Wonder how true it is?
Still think when the youngsters get bored on weekends and start throwing mannequins and baby dolls in front of them, it's going to fun to watch.D.Tibbitt, stwik and Diesel Dave Thank this. -

Why not just pretend you have it? Like get the dash mounted gauges and have them wired to just turn on.
I doubt they will check.
And if you got to pay to get hired then that’s not a job you want anyways.
I could just see it.
First month 10k spent to get hired.
3 months later. Sorry it’s not working out.
If they won’t sign a contract with you stating that they will give you a severance package if they let you go for the tune if let’s say 10k then don’t do it.
You take the risk they make the money?
Ya that makes you the sucker at the poker table.D.Tibbitt and truckdriver31 Thank this. -
If it’s a “requirement”, let them cover the costs then. I wouldn’t spend that kind of $ to go work for any trucking company, especially one like Prime.
