Leaving for Orientation as a driver graduate with Schneider this upcoming Friday in Green Bay, WI. Have to say I am looking forward to it. I heard a lot of good things about the company on these forums (and the bad things I heard we always followed up by people who disagreed).

Would like to know what to expect. I already know about the easy physical and I read something about a road test and simulated driving but I am sure there are plenty more things involved than that.

It's painless, other than sitting. You'll have trip planning, they want you to actually write down your plan. That was strange to me, I'd always done it my head. I think they had map reading as well, company policies, why they think unions are bad video, and some other things I can't remember. They have a simulator as well, I broke it, it should be fixed by now.:biggrin_2559:
I spent more time looking at the instructor than anything else. I won't say her name, but if you have the same one I did, you'll see what I mean.:biggrin_25525:

That's funny. Will they let me play around with the simulator? Like go off-road or hit oncoming traffic?

I don't remember the simulator being a requirement, but likely you'll play with it a bit. No, ya don't go off road, but I think ya get to hit a person walking, sideswipe a car, slide out on ice, and blow a steer. It really wasn't that realistic, there was no blood.:biggrin_2559:
What I did was get on ice, and I jammed the clutch down like you would really do. I guess I hit it too hard, and broke the linkage!!:biggrin_2559:

Enjoy yourself, I had a good roommate, and the time there was actually fun.

wrapping up day two. pre work screening was easy peasy. on day one we had some small tests and we were given homework on fmcsr and trip planning. both were easy. the instructor, Rob, is nice and directs the activities well. I met a lot of people who went to training with swift and some other companies that treated them like garbage and they all seem to like Schneider. Glad I picked this company so far.

Well, Rob wasn't the instructor I had, just thought you might want to know that!:biggrin_2559:
The room mate I had drove for Swift previously, he said it was quite a difference as well.

    iamgillespie Thanks this.
