Terminal to terminal. Out and back sometimes if it's to far out to get back in time. You will be put up in a hotel. YRC teamm driver positions are OTR it's terminal to terminal to terminal. Then back to your home terminal

    G13Tomcat and Mike2633 Thank this.

They all do; SEFL just must not have a road opening. The terminology is typically city, which is the same as P&D, and road, which is the same as linehaul. City/P&D is daytime work, and road/linehaul is typically nighttime work.

Some linehaul is extraboard/system, where you're out in hotels all week. Some linehaul runs are "laydown" runs, where you go out and stay in a hotel near the destination terminal, then come back to your home terminal the next day and sleep at home. I do linehaul where I work nights but am home every morning.

Some companies say OTR to refer to linehaul, but it doesn't look anything like OTR as most of us think of it. Linehaul is all drop and hook, terminal to terminal - there's no deliveries at customers like typical OTR jobs. And as said before, no sleepers except for teams.

    Mike2633 and G13Tomcat Thank this.

Ok the extraboard if i understand correctly is more or less an on call basis. The add don't mention extraboard it says full time

I just started at XPO maybe 2 months ago. I wished i went here right out of school. Line haul guys are home everyday and some make 100k I went right to line haul my self and been making $1500 a week on starting wage. You have to work for it. I sleep maybe 4-5 hours a day and enjoy every part of job.

Only thing I wished I live in Florida or some where down there. One day!!!

Not exactly, it just means you don't have a regular scheduled run and can be sent anywhere in the system. Many extraboard drivers run harder and make more money than those with bid runs, but you sacrifice hometime. Higher seniority provides more choices, but many senior drivers still choose to stay out all week for that extra dough. Running extraboard is a good way to get your foot in the door, though.

@TahoeTrucker and @Naptown can elaborate on that situation at Estes and Old Dominion.

XPO bought Con-Way. There are still some Con-Way trailers out there, but they technically don't exist anymore.
