Still a newbie I see. It happens maybe you arent cutout for this work? I have had 6 stops one day and the next loaded out on 1400 mile single stops. You gotta take what they give you as you are their employee or atleast you were.
Good luck in the job hunt.Puppage, Cranky Yankee, d o g and 1 other person Thank this. -
If you're not happy, it's usually best to move on . Sometimes you get multistops , but it's ok if they pay. I have had plenty of multi stop loads , but they paid $45-$60 / stop. Some were long haul. I understand as a new driver at a big fleet the pay rate is not good. If you keep trucking for a year or two , your rate will get better.

Wow. Really? If all it takes to make you quit is a little LTL run, then you need to get yourself home and find an easy job. Trucking obviously isn't for you.Cranky Yankee, Rick_C, HwyPrsnr and 1 other person Thank this.

He also said the pay and miles suck. I don't think he needs to give up on an entire industry just yet. In my case, when it comes to companies, the third time was the charm.
I just love these drivers telling people to leave trucking. I know I wouldn't listen to them.MikeCammer and Grouch Thank this. -
If all it takes is one or a couple of assignments he/she does not like. Then maybe trucking is not the place for him/her. Unfortunate as it is you cant always have the loads you like. Someone has to take the lousey once, and low man usually gets it.
Number one priority for the company is to move freight, whether it is pickup or deliver. You were hired to do these pickups and/or deliveries. You get paid, at a rate you agreed to by signing on, to do this job. If this is not what you want, then please rethink your decision to become a trucker.
Good luck in whatever you decide to do. -
The only difference between the OP and myself, is that he quit. I just kept whining through it.

The 1st yr sucks...I'm an OO now and I still want to quit...The BS is stacked so high out here you need wings to stay above it all...Trucking isn't for everyone and if you have a low tolerance for BS, this industry will eat you alive...

Well said!
The original poster REALLY would have hated my city LTL job then. Start at 11:15a.m. do upwards to 30 drops and picks on about 7 different trailers, end at about 9:00p.m.-9:30p.m. five days a week, 52 weeks a year with some of the raggiest equipment on the roads (yes...a spring ride tractor, and 1990's worn out trailers). That's work. But I signed up for it.
I have to admit, driving over the road...I prefer one pick/one drop...but unfortunately it's not always like that. Just do the load, get it done, and move onto the next one. If dispatch seems to get the idea that you like multi-stop just because you are willing to do one or two here and there (newbie or not) set them straight. TELL them it is not your favorite, but you WILL do your fair share, but you don't want to fall into a pattern of being "the guy" for doing multi-stop loads.Hamsterrock74 Thanks this. -
kthxbye
