Depends which state you are in.
On the other hand, a rule is that you always use flags by day and lights by night to a certain width.
In Alberta, beacons are required over 11 feet wide. -
Like Prairie Boy stated, it veries state by state. Plus Canada has different rules
-
it would be for CA,NV & OR
-
Doesn't your permit come with "instructions"? Such as certain width needs this or that ?
botoler and Working Class Patriot Thank this. -
I'm not sure you can move oversize stuff at night.....
Oversize permits will outline the signage, lights, flags, escort requirements for each state you will run in. -
Some states like CO allow night movement of OD loads. Your permits will state your route and requirements. Stop at any large truck stop and buy an oversize guide. Will give you all you need for all states. Pretty cheap like $10-15. Also has time restrictions for large cities. Like Okla City no OD loads 6-9am 2:30-6:30. Denver and many others have similar restrictions.
Lights and flags vary from state to state. Make #### sure you take off oversize banner if entering NM at Raton. Guy reamed me for forgetting to remove one off front after unloading as tornado approached.
-
Flashers are also required if operating on highway when your speed is more than 10 miles under the limit.
-
And don't even think about going into Georgia without a $3.00 Emergency light permit..... Without it will give you a $100.00 fine if your running your beacon lights.
formertaxidriver Thanks this. -
Please give a reference for that.
