Depends on the state. At 10' wide you can run in Wisconsin at night. Some big stuff we take through Minnesota can only run at night. I am looking at my Illinois, Indiana and Ohio permits right now. NONE of them outline signage, light or flag requirements. If an escort is required that probably will be on your permit. I just bought a new pilotcar book tonight. The states permit provision sheets give you the best information.

Or in Nevada without your Amber Light Permit.

Most states will tell you that you need the provision sheet.
The oversize guide books sold in the trkstps are not fact.
They are a reference book only.
Ohio will give you a ticket for not having your provision sheet. So will Il. if you find the right scale person.
Ca. used to be that for night running you had to have a copy of the pilot car map rtes. They rarely enforced that rule. -
In Ohio I believe your provision sheet must be attached to your permit. I just use a clear page sleeve, permit on one side and provisions on the other.

Wisconsin allows 12' wide at nite.providing you have the widest part of the load lit up...
Night moves in Minnesota require lit "Oversize Load Signs"..... -
And Alabama requires the permits to be signed in Red.botoler Thanks this. -
Everything varies by state. Illinois requires a beacon on top of the cab. Other states require flashers on the trailer. Some states require you run 45 MPH. Some of the regs are on you permit others are not. State DOT websites are generally a good source of information.
It is really unfortunate there is not a uniform set of rules for loads that do not exceed certain dimensions like 12' wide & 14' high. These loads should be allowed to run 24/7.botoler Thanks this. -

I stand corrected. That is what I get for chiming in when I am tired. I am a fountain of misinformation.
